Frequently asked questions about the wallbox in Berlin
For most private households, an 11 kW wallbox is ideal: it charges the vehicle fully overnight and only needs to be registered with the grid operator. A 22 kW wallbox charges faster, but requires approval and only makes sense if the house connection and vehicle can actually use the power. We advise you on which variant suits your needs.
Yes. Every permanently installed wallbox is subject to notification to the responsible grid operator. From a charging power of 11 kW, registration is sufficient; from 22 kW, an approval is additionally required. Montali handles these formalities completely for you.
Yes. A wallbox requires its own, separately fused circuit with a suitable cable cross-section and an appropriate residual current device (FI/RCD). This is mandatory and ensures that charging works safely and independently of the rest of the household electricity.
Yes. Apartment owners have a right to the installation of a charging point. So that several wallboxes do not overload the house connection, we plan a load management system that distributes the available power intelligently to all charging points – including billable, calibration-law compliant solutions.
Yes. We couple your wallbox with your photovoltaic system and – if available – your battery storage. Via an energy manager, surplus solar power flows preferentially into your vehicle, so that you charge particularly cheaply and climate-friendly. We also prepare for a later PV retrofit during the installation.
